A certified silver drachm of Khusru II / Khosrow II, one of the most important rulers of the late Sasanian Empire. Khusru II ruled during one of the most dramatic periods of pre-Islamic Iranian history, marked by restoration to power, major wars with the Roman Empire, territorial expansion, and the eventual collapse of his reign.

This coin presents the classic Sasanian imperial format: the royal bust of the king on the obverse and the sacred fire altar on the reverse, a central religious and royal symbol in Sasanian coinage. The design reflects the visual language of Sasanian kingship, where coins were not only instruments of exchange but also vehicles of royal authority, legitimacy, and religious symbolism.
