Our Authentication Process

We use an item-specific review process designed to separate verified information from opinion or attribution.

1. Documentation Review

We review available invoices, auction records, prior descriptions, certification records, and ownership information associated with the item.

2. Object Assessment

We examine visible characteristics such as material, measurements, manufacture, style, inscriptions, surface, wear, and condition against relevant comparative references.

3. Independent Certification

When an item has independent certification or grading, the issuer and certification number are identified in the listing. Buyers should rely on the precise statements made by that independent organization rather than assume the certification covers claims not shown in its record.

4. Provisional Attribution

When independent certification or conclusive documentation is not available, the listing should use qualified language such as “attributed to,” “appears to be,” or “provisional.” Additional specialist examination may be recommended.

Certificates and Records

A certificate or inventory record issued by The Shah’s Vault records the seller’s description of the item. It is not represented as an independent laboratory report unless the named independent organization issued it. Please contact us to request the documentation available for a specific piece.
